Alexander Negro is the fantasy football titan behind WiseGuys. Prior to him being a Commissioner, he played in other leagues and for the first time ever participated in an offline draft in 2010. Like so many Commissioners before him, he felt the unshakable urge to leave this league for bigger and better things. He finally had enough of these mediocre leagues and knew it was time for a change. He had no idea what a wild ride he was in for when he raised the curtain on his biggest creation ever.
In 2011, he introduced the WiseGuys Fantasy Football League and as most great businesses start off (Apple, Amazon, etc.), Alexander too started his league in a garage. After searching and scrimping to get people together in his first league in 2011, he finally found ten fantasy football owners. He became a dominant force in the industry by 2012, by getting 12 owners the following year and maintaining 90% retention for returning fantasy football owners. From there, he almost single-handedly revolutionized the mass market for fantasy football. By offering great communication to the owners, maintaining a fun and friendly environment, and an amazing offline draft day, Alexander was able to, in turn, sell his vision to owners.
WiseGuys was such an amazing league and Alexander was by far one of the greatest Commissioners of all time. Without anything else to prove, Alexander retired from fantasy football in 2016. This was due to Alexander wanting to pursue his education at Aurora University. He knew that his education was very important to him and needed to readjust his mindset for school. He ultimately did not want to give half or a quarter of his attention to the league because he felt it would be a disservice to WiseGuys owners. Alexander went on a two year hiatus from 2016 through spring 2018.
By fall of 2018, Alexander announced his return as the WiseGuys Commissioner and his first executive order was to change the league from a standard league to a keeper league. Without skipping a beat, Alexander was back in the trenches getting his hands dirty and feet wet. This helped establish Alexander’s legacy as one of America’s Greatest Commissioners. He is still celebrated for his ability to bring people together, to produce an overall great environment, and a well-run organization, more than anyone thought possible.
